There are a few error messages that can appear when using the speech to text feature.
The above error appears when the simulation is not receiving any audio from the microphone. Troubleshooting this message depends on when the message appears. Please click the appropriate link depending on how quickly the message appears:
Message appears immediately after clicking the speech to text icon.
Message appears after a short delay after clicking the speech to text icon.
Message appears immediately
Typically this means that there is something blocking the hardware from connecting to the simulation.
The first thing to check is if Chrome has granted permission for Shadow Health to use the computer's microphone. You should see an icon on the right side of the address bar, that when clicked will show you the permissions.
If the microphone is blocked, please change it to "Always allow..." and then try to use speech to text again. If you still receive this error message, please go to https://google.com and click on the microphone icon in the search box. If this page also has an issue accessing your microphone, there may be an issue with the microphone hardware setup.
Message appears after short delay
If there is a few second delay when clicking the speech to text icon, then the software is not able to hear the speech. The most common cause of this is an issue with the volume settings for the microphone.
Please select your system type for instructions on updating the volume settings.
If you are still experiencing issues using speech to text, please contact support for further assistance.
